The district is home to the unique Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve, Padysha-Ata State Reserve, Kara-Kamysh Lake, and ancient walnut forests. History
• The history of the region is closely linked to the ancient trade routes of the Tien Shan. During the Soviet era, starting from 1928, the region developed as the Zhany-Zhol District. In 1991, as part of restoring the historical toponymy of independent Kyrgyzstan, the district was renamed back to Aksy. The region is well-known for its centuries-old livestock farming traditions and preservation of cultural heritage. Деңиз деңгээлинен бийиктиги
